Children's Liturgy of the Word
Saint John the Baptist Parish began Children's Liturgy of the Word (CLOW) in January, 2012. CLOW is a year round ministry that occurs during the 8:30 Sunday Mass. It is open to all children ages Kindergarten through Third Grade who are attending 8:30 Mass. Children's Liturgy of the Word does not take the place of Mass - it IS part of Mass. The children who attend CLOW hear the Sunday Readings, sing the Responsorial Psalm and the Gospel Acclamation, hear a reflection and take part in the Creed and the General Intercessions - but in language and understandings suited to their level of development. Four teams of adults and older students facilitate CLOW on rotating weeks. Each team has a leader, a lector, a cantor and a set-up person. After the Opening Prayer at Mass, the celebrant invites the children forward and they come to the front of the church with the CLOW team for that week. After a short commissioning and blessing, the children are led by the team leader to the New Community Room where CLOW takes place. The children return to the body of th church after the general intercessions are completed. If you have any questions about CLOW or would like to volunteer to help, please call Teresa Palmer, DRE at (513) 367-9086 x 218.
