We, the members of St. John the Baptist, are a Roman Catholic community of faith uniting ourselves, and all persons, to God through the love of Jesus Christ and the power of the Holy Spirit by worship, prayer, the Sacraments, education and service to God and others.

We are a diverse community working together, dedicated to living the gospel values, committed to reconciling our differences by choosing to forgive and be forgiven. We share freely of our time, talents and treasures.

We are a family of God reaching out to all of our brothers and sisters, always loving, supporting and respecting one another as we travel home to salvation.

Corona Pandemic Directives - Suspension of All Masses

Karen Kane 0 0 Article rating: No rating

Brothers and sisters in the Lord,

I am sorry to announce, but fully understand and agree with, the decision of the Catholic bishops of Ohio that effective immediately, all publicly celebrated Masses are suspended at least through Holy Week and Easter.  Therefore, effective immediately, we will not celebrate Mass at St. John’s.  It is not clear to me if this includes wedding and funerals.  I will let you know about this tomorrow, once I check with the Archbishop’s office.

The bishops did not make this decision lightly, and the thought of not celebrating publicly the Paschal Mystery of our redemption in Holy Week and on Easter causes us great sadness.   Yet, we who have been born anew in Christ share in a spiritual communion with Christ and one another that distance, and in fact even death, cannot break.  While we are separated physically, we are joined in a spiritual bond that cannot be broken.  I will be sending prayers, reflections, and other materials to guide us through these difficult times.

Please note that I will respond to all sick calls and requests for care for the dying as much as I can.

May the Lord sustain us, strengthen us, and heal us in body, mind, and soul.
